QA Manager (Remote, South Africa)

About the role

A time-tracking and workforce management SaaS company, used by construction firms, service providers, healthcare practices, franchises and small businesses, is looking for a QA Manager to lead its existing team of three people who cover both manual testing and test automation. The role is remote, based in South Africa, and fits a self-starter who works well with little direction.

Key responsibilities

• Set the QA team's priorities, review their work and coach them.
• Own release sign-off: decide what gets tested before each release, ensure regression checks run, and hold back releases that are not ready.
• Test features and review test automation in TypeScript with Playwright, covering end-to-end UI and API tests.
• Choose which customer workflows to automate first and keep the automated tests reliable and easy to maintain.
• Triage bugs in Azure DevOps so that every bug report gives developers what they need to fix it.
• Send a weekly written report on what was tested, what was automated, release status and what is next.

Required profile

• 8+ years in software QA, including at least 4 years directly managing a QA team.
• Experience leading regression testing and release sign-off for a SaaS web app and APIs.
• English fluent or native, written and spoken.
• Comfortable working US Central Time hours long-term (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm).
• Detail-oriented, with clear written communication and a track record of long-term tenure.

Required skills

• Hands-on testing and reviewing automation code; Playwright with TypeScript preferred, or another modern framework.
• Bug triage in Azure DevOps.

Pay is $3,800-$4,800 per month as an independent contractor, depending on skill set and experience.
