Python Software Engineer – Mid & Senior Levels

About the role

Mr D, a division of the Takealot Group, is seeking passionate Python Software Engineers at mid‑level and senior levels to help shape the future of South African e‑commerce. You will work on high‑impact systems that serve millions of users, building scalable, reliable, and efficient backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable APIs and distributed backend services.
• Implement containerised micro‑services and cloud‑native solutions.
• Work with event‑streaming platforms to process high‑volume transaction data.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver features quickly and reliably.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous‑delivery pipelines.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer‑science fundamentals, OOP, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience building large‑scale, stateless backend systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in a lean, results‑driven environment.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a passion for high‑impact engineering.
