Purchasing Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Purchasing Officer to manage the end‑to‑end procurement process for our high‑grade iron ore operations. You will be responsible for turning purchase requests into purchase orders, tracking deliveries, handling invoices and ensuring orders are closed efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Execute purchase requests from source selection through order finalisation.
• Track delivery of goods and services, monitor invoice capture and close orders.
• Conduct spot sourcing for requests without an approved supplier and obtain necessary approvals.
• Process change orders, resolve supply issues and raise visibility of purchased items.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and provide regular reporting.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, evaluate performance and escalate critical issues.
• Ensure sourcing complies with Anglo American sustainability and social requirements.

• Adherence to health and safety standards.
• Ability to work within the Supply Chain strategy, manage risks and meet performance targets.
• Agile mindset to adapt to changing business priorities.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of purchasing and procurement processes.
• Understanding of supplier performance evaluation.
• Familiarity with sustainability and social procurement guidelines.
