Promotions Manager – Subscription Services

About the role

Takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, is seeking a strategic Promotions Manager to own the promotional strategy for TakealotMORE subscriptions across Takealot and Mr D. You will curate member‑exclusive deals, drive acquisition and retention, and ensure promotions deliver measurable business value.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the promotional strategy for TakealotMORE subscriptions, aligning with overall business goals.
• Define rules and guidelines for member‑exclusive promotions, including deal selection criteria and funding models.
• Benchmark against global players to identify best practices and innovative approaches.
• Use data and analytics to select deals, evaluate performance, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Manage the promotional budget to maximise ROI and meet targets for GMV, acquisition, and retention.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Retail, Marketplace, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, etc.) to screen, load, and launch deals.
• Lead personalisation initiatives, leveraging data to tailor promotions to subscriber preferences.
• Track and report financial performance, present results to senior leadership, and maintain dashboards on key metrics.
• Work with Product and Engineering to define the tech roadmap for promotions and test new formats.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics or a related field (advanced degree advantageous).
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in data‑driven decision making.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, influence stakeholders, and drive cross‑functional projects.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and SQL.
• Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, BigQuery, Tableau or Power BI.
• Familiarity with data‑science tools like KNIME, R or Python.
