Project Manager – Varian Product Installations (Midrand, SA)

About the role

The successful candidate will lead the coordination of Varian product installations and upgrades across Southern and Eastern Africa. Based in Midrand, South Africa, this office‑based position works closely with international cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise the preparation and installation of Varian linear accelerators and associated software.
• Conduct site visits, advise customers and contractors on facility requirements, safety standards, room layout, electrical, plumbing and HVAC specifications.
• Support customers in implementing software prerequisites such as Active Directory, domain setup, IT security, power, network layout and server configurations.
• Monitor facility preparation, identify risks, and manage equipment shipment schedules to meet installation timelines.
• Produce detailed installation reports and maintain tight control of installation forecasts.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operational aspects of multiple medium‑scale projects, ensuring compliance with Varian and local municipal regulations.
• Review bids from contractors, monitor contract quality, and collaborate with sales, order processing and installation resource managers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in project management, construction coordination or medical equipment installation.
• PMI certification is desirable.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and excellent organizational skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel 20–40% for business purposes.
