Project Manager – Retail & Shopping Centre Redevelopment

About the role

Bentel Group, a leading South African retail property developer, is seeking an experienced Project Manager with an architectural technology background. You will lead the redevelopment, new builds, and reconfiguration of shopping centres across the portfolio, reporting directly to the CEO.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle for retail redevelopment projects, from concept through construction to handover.
• Coordinate contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Produce and review detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Oversee site activities, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Liaise with leasing teams to incorporate tenant fit‑out requirements.
• Conduct regular site visits and report progress, risks, and issues to the CEO.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of experience in retail property or shopping centre project management.
• National Diploma or BTech in Architectural Technology (or equivalent); SACAP registration advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (non‑negotiable).
• Experience with MS Project or Primavera for programme management.
• Working knowledge of NEC3 and/or JBCC contract suites.
• Familiarity with South African building regulations and SANS standards.
