Project Manager – Infrastructure (Permanent)

About the role

The Umzimvubu Local Municipality seeks experienced Project Managers to lead both maintenance and new infrastructure projects. These permanent positions involve planning, budgeting, and overseeing road, bridge, storm‑water, and municipal building works to ensure high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Plan short‑term and long‑term infrastructure objectives, including road reconstruction, maintenance, street lighting, and municipal building electrification.
• Identify, develop, and manage new construction projects such as roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
• Manage personnel productivity within the Operations and Maintenance Section.
• Control capital and operating budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with approved allocations.
• Oversee contracts, tender processes, and service provider performance for maintenance and new projects.
• Prepare, administer, and monitor project reports, ensuring accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Grade 12 and a Degree in Civil Engineering.
• OHS Certificate (minimum 6 months).
• 3–5 years of project management experience in local government.
• Good report‑writing skills and a valid Code B driving licence.
• Registration with ECSA and SACPM or eligibility for registration.
• Computer literacy.
