Project Manager – Concentrator Plant (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

Our client, a leading mining house, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major platinum concentrator plant in Sub‑Saharan Africa. The role covers the full project lifecycle from detailed engineering through construction, commissioning and handover, with the base office in Johannesburg and frequent travel to the site.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the concentrator plant safely, on‑time and within budget.
• Coordinate with the Project Office, engineering consultants, construction managers, commissioning team and operations personnel.
• Manage contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Oversee engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational readiness activities on site.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards throughout the project.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Chemical or Mining Engineering.
• Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) preferred.
• Professional registration with ECSA or equivalent body advantageous.
• Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
• Minimum 15 years of mining project experience, including at least 5 years in project management roles.
• Proven delivery of large concentrator or mineral processing plant projects, preferably >US$100 million.
• Extensive EPCM project delivery and multidisciplinary team management experience.
• Experience in platinum‑group‑metal (PGM) processing and remote African project environments is a plus.
