Project Manager – Automation Energy

About the role

ABB is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead medium‑size to large automation and energy projects in South Africa. You will be responsible for delivering projects that meet ABB’s standards for safety, quality, cost, and schedule while fostering continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the project team and define the execution approach for projects valued between USD 15 M and 50 M.
• Plan, monitor, and control project activities, ensuring compliance with procedures, regulations, and specifications.
• Support local sales and tendering processes through early involvement in bids.
• Drive formal project acceptance, contract close‑out, and customer acknowledgment.
• Promote continuous improvement and simplification across project execution.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of project management experience in the energy sector.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering (light or heavy current) or equivalent.
• PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence for South Africa.
• Knowledge of FIDIC and NEC contracts is advantageous.
