Project Management Unit Manager

About the role

The Municipality seeks a senior professional to lead its Project Management Unit. The role involves overseeing infrastructure projects, managing grant funding, and ensuring compliance with municipal policies and legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate delivery of infrastructure projects in line with the Integrated Development Plan and national policy.
• Manage and control grant‑funded project applications, including preparation of business plans and financial reports.
• Supervise the Project Management Unit staff and ensure robust monitoring, performance, and reporting systems.
• Prepare and verify technical and financial project reports for council and external funding bodies.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate and a Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management or related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience, including three years in a supervisory role within municipal engineering programmes.
• Professional registration with ECSA and/or SACPCMP (or eligibility within 12 months).
• Code B driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the broader Office suite.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to prepare financial and progress reports.
