Project Engineer – Sustainability & Utilities

About the role

The Project Engineer – Sustainability & Utilities will manage the scoping and delivery of medium‑complexity CAPEX projects across 33 manufacturing sites, supporting a $10M+ annual spend. You will partner with engineering, procurement and operations teams to implement sustainability and utility initiatives that drive productivity and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and provide order‑of‑magnitude costing to evaluate project feasibility.
• Lead change‑management processes for CAPEX projects, ensuring risks and impacts are managed.
• Drive productivity targets, process control, troubleshooting and product‑quality improvements.
• Develop scopes, URS documents and Capital Appropriation Requests for assigned projects.
• Plan and execute mechanical, electrical and civil CAPEX projects, including capitalised maintenance.
• Collaborate with Business Unit and Sector Engineering Centres of Excellence to align designs with PepsiCo standards.
• Manage cost, schedule and procurement activities to achieve on‑time, in‑full delivery within budget.
• Maintain the SA Utilities Map and Water/Power Hardening Plans, travelling to sites as needed.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng in Chemical/Process, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
