Project Engineer I

About the role

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a Project Engineer I to lead the planning, coordination and execution of complex mining system projects across South Africa. The role blends engineering expertise with project management to deliver solutions on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, resource schedules and risk registers.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure efficient deployment of mining systems.
• Provide technical escalation support and resolve issues beyond the Project Engineer’s scope.
• Support, maintain and customise software solutions, including scripting‑based customisations.
• Perform onsite system installations, configurations and testing.
• Monitor project progress, report status and communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with sales and pre‑sales teams for technical presentations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Hexagon product offerings and industry trends.

Required profile

• Strong high‑level knowledge of mining systems and their deployment.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel onsite across South Africa as required.

Required skills

• Scripting for system customisation (e.g., Python or similar).
• Software troubleshooting and support.
• System configuration and integration.
• Onsite installation and testing of mining solutions.
