Project Developer - Renewable Energy

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Developer – Renewable Energy to join a leading consultancy. You will support and lead the development of large‑scale solar, battery storage and hybrid projects across South Africa and Sub‑Saharan Africa, working closely with utilities, financiers, regulators and landowners.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new renewable energy project opportunities and support pipeline growth.
• Coordinate permitting, licensing, environmental authorisations and land acquisition.
• Manage relationships with utilities, developers, lenders, regulators and other stakeholders.
• Assist in negotiating and preparing PPAs, NDAs, JVAs, MOUs and Heads of Terms.
• Support financial close by preparing investment papers, due‑diligence reports and budgeting.
• Oversee technical, commercial and legal feasibility studies and EPC cost reviews.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Business, Natural Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of renewable energy or infrastructure project development experience.
• Experience with Solar PV, BESS or utility‑scale hybrid projects is advantageous.
• Knowledge of South African EIA processes and permitting procedures.
• Strong commercial, analytical and written English communication skills.
• Valid South African Code 08 driver’s licence and willingness to travel across Africa.
