Project Cost Controller

About the role

The Project Cost Controller will oversee all financial aspects of Howden projects, ensuring accurate cost reporting, profit analysis and timely invoicing. This position supports project managers and senior finance leaders in delivering profitable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Control the flow of finance‑related information into the financial system for accurate project reporting.
• Process invoices, collections and supplier payments on schedule.
• Collaborate with project managers to develop cost projections that meet profitability targets.
• Prepare analytical reports on progress, trends and financial performance for managers and the Managing Director.
• Maintain the approved vendor list in coordination with Procurement and QA.
• Design and maintain costing reports to monitor cost drivers across projects, manufacturing and services.
• Produce weekly and monthly contract status reports and revenue recognition schedules.
• Manage open order books in accordance with IFRS and participate in monthly contract review meetings.
• Support balance‑sheet reconciliations, sub‑ledger and general‑ledger journal preparation, and resolve reconciling items.
• Assist external auditors during annual project audits and provide ad‑hoc financial support to the Financial Manager.
• Proactively manage customer funding positions and update customer/vendor databases.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project cost control or similar finance roles.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and project accounting standards.
• Ability to prepare and analyse detailed financial reports and forecasts.
• Experience liaising with project managers, procurement and audit teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
