Project Controller

About the role

The Project Controller will independently manage the financial performance of projects from the bidding stage through to close. Working within Finance and closely with Operations, the role supports Project and Contract Managers to ensure compliance with group standards, accurate reporting, forecasting and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Bid Manager in building cost models, assessing financial viability and reviewing risks to support go/no‑go decisions.
• Attend hand‑over from bid to execution, review contract financial terms and confirm appropriate revenue‑recognition methods.
• Set up projects, billing plans and revenue schedules in the ERP system; issue advance payment invoices and arrange performance bonds.
• Input and validate initial financial forecasts and present them to senior management.
• Lead quarterly financial reviews, analyse actuals versus forecast, update cost‑to‑complete and adjust contingencies.
• Optimise billing milestones, prepare customer invoices, chase overdue payments and agree recovery actions.
• Execute month‑end close activities including time bookings, inter‑company transactions, cost accruals and revenue reconciliations.
• Monitor bonds and guarantees, support tax queries and respond to audit requests.
• Close out projects by confirming final settlement, closing purchase orders, releasing bonds and ensuring all revenue is collected.

Required profile

• Experience in project finance, preferably within engineering, consulting or professional services.
• Strong contract literacy and comfort with billing structures, revenue‑recognition terms and risk allocation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for project set‑up and financial reporting.
