Project and Operations Coordinator – Metering Systems

About the role

The Project and Operations Coordinator will lead strategic utility projects from initiation through to operational hand‑over. Working with municipalities, utilities and private‑sector clients, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones and deliverables.
• Coordinate internal teams, contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Monitor contractor performance, project progress, quality and deliverables.
• Facilitate regular project meetings and track actions.
• Prepare status reports, progress updates and management reports.
• Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and corrective actions.
• Assist with contract execution, compliance and commercial administration.
• Coordinate procurement, logistics and resource requirements.
• Support financial tracking, budgeting and cost control.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and project close‑out activities, ensuring smooth hand‑over to operations.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical or Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related field.
• Professional certification such as PMP or PMI membership (non‑negotiable).
• Minimum 7 years of project management and/or operations experience, preferably in electricity or water utilities.
• Proven experience coordinating contractors and multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with high self‑motivation.
• Valid driver’s licence, own transport and willingness to travel occasionally.
