Professor/Associate Professor – Public Management & Policy (3 posts)

About the role

The University of Johannesburg is recruiting three academics for the School of Public Management, Governance & Public Policy as Professor or Associate Professor. The role involves delivering undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervising research projects, and contributing to the university’s mission of societal impact, sustainability and global partnership. Teaching and research will be conducted in both contact and online modes where appropriate, with active interaction with community stakeholders and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lecture, supervise and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students in public administration, management, governance and policy.
• Coordinate and develop undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the relevant disciplines.
• Prepare study material, deliver lectures and seminars, and be available for student consultation.
• Communicate effectively with students and colleagues via face‑to‑face, telephone, email and electronic platforms.
• Invigilate examinations and ensure compliance with university rules and regulations.
• Participate in school, college and university meetings, committees and official gatherings.
• Provide teaching cover for colleagues on sabbatical when required.
• Lead the development of new courses or modules and continuously improve existing course structures, delivery and assessment.
• Supervise Honours projects, Master’s dissertations and PhD theses to completion.
• Engage in professional activities, outreach events such as open days and public lectures, and undertake other reasonable duties as assigned.
