Professional Nurse - Medical & Surgical ICU

About the role

Mediclinic is recruiting a Professional Nurse for its Medical & Surgical ICU at the Wits Donald Gordon Med Centre in Parktown, Johannesburg. This is a permanent, on-site position with one opening, and the closing date is 26 October 2026. Internal employees on a fixed-term contract should apply through an external candidate profile.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care according to the Scope of Practice.
• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all used stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Desired: Midwifery, or a postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty area.
• Essential: 2-3 years of experience working in an ICU environment.
• Desired: 1 year of post-graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit.
