Professional Nurse - Medical

About the role

Mediclinic Constantiaberg is recruiting one Professional Nurse for its medical ward in Plumstead, Cape Town. The nurse works with a multi-professional team to deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care within their scope of practice, and leads and coordinates nursing teams to enable optimal patient care. The position is permanent and on-site.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence
• Ensure that all used stock and equipment are accurately charted

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse, or a 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing
• Desired: Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery, or a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g. Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri-operative Nursing) if placed in a specialist unit
• No minimum experience required

Required skills

• Basic life support (ACLS; ATLS and PALS for specialised wards)
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
• Nursing care planning, nursing processes and procedures, and nursing record keeping
• Patient assessment, pharmacology and infection prevention and control
• Risk identification and knowledge of relevant nursing legislation
