Professional Nurse – Admission Lounge

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse to work in the Admission Lounge. The role involves delivering safe, comprehensive nursing care as part of a multi‑professional team, ensuring a positive experience for patients entering the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to maintain patient safety.
• Create a welcoming environment that facilitates a positive client experience.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Develop a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure all stock and equipment are accurately charted and managed.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR a 4‑year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (desired).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units (desired).
• No minimum experience required.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards).
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
• Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control knowledge.
• Proficiency in nursing processes, procedures and record keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation and risk identification.
