Production Technician

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Production Technician to join our high‑speed manufacturing team in Cape Town. The role combines production and maintenance responsibilities to ensure maximum machine uptime and efficient output in a fast‑paced FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and change over high‑speed production lines according to production requirements.
• Optimise machine performance to maximise efficiency, throughput and uptime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on production equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical support during breakdowns and carry out repairs as required.
• Support production planning and scheduling to ensure continuous operations.
• Capture production data and machine parameters on the MES system.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor critical spares and consumables to maintain equipment reliability.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in FMCG, packaging, food & beverage, pharmaceutical or similar high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in both production and maintenance on high‑speed automated machinery.
• Proven fault‑finding, troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and perform under production pressure.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Only South African residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
