Production Team Leader

About the role

RCL Foods is looking for a Production Team Leader to oversee daily operations in the Baking Division at its Krugersdrop facility. Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will lead a shift team to ensure frozen products are packed, palletised, and transferred according to company and legal specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑start checks: verify ingredient availability, clean and sanitise mixers, pots, VMI, laminator and ensure safety equipment is functional.
• Allocate resources: manage work‑in‑progress, raw material inputs and strict recipe compliance.
• Monitor production: control mix and pastry temperatures, track fat temperature and percentage, record waste and machine downtime.
• Oversee operator activities: ensure PPE use, maintain housekeeping standards and enforce plant rules.
• Coach and mentor team members, drive waste‑reduction initiatives and record production data throughout the shift.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent; NQF Level 6+ in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Technology or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years experience in food manufacturing or FMCG, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP and food safety legislation.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and production data.
