Production Operator – Bakery Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Production Operator to run, monitor and maintain bakery production machinery. The role ensures safe, efficient operation and consistent delivery of high‑quality baked goods in line with production plans and food‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate production machinery according to standard operating procedures and set‑up machines for each run.
• Perform product changeovers, adjust settings to meet specifications and minimise waste.
• Monitor machine performance, respond to stoppages, and report technical issues to maintenance.
• Achieve daily production targets while maintaining product quality and completing production records.
• Conduct routine quality checks, isolate non‑conforming products and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP and food‑safety requirements.
• Carry out basic troubleshooting, first‑line maintenance and keep equipment clean and organized.
• Follow health, safety and environmental policies, wear required PPE and report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain 5S housekeeping standards and collaborate with team members on continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent; higher qualification in Production or Manufacturing is a plus.
• 1–2 years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or FMCG environment; bakery or food‑manufacturing experience preferred.
• Understanding of machine operating principles, GMP, HACCP and workplace health‑and‑safety requirements.
