Production Manager

About the role

The Production Manager will lead the manufacturing unit in South Africa, overseeing all production activities to meet planned targets while ensuring optimal use of resources. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will be responsible for quality, safety, and continuous improvement across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Manage production processes and control product quality assurance.
• Optimize raw material, packaging, and consumable stock levels.
• Drive efficiency of people, plant, machinery and equipment, including Process Feeding, Binders, Fawema, Italpac, FFS, palletising and robotic systems.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Approve and oversee capital projects and coordinate maintenance schedules with the Maintenance Department.
• Provide regular status reports to the Unit Manager.
• Supervise, motivate and develop production staff.
• Establish and monitor KPIs to drive operational improvement.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in extrusion processes.
• Degree or diploma in Production Management or a related field.
• Proven ability to lead a team and manage business planning.
• Strong computer literacy, including SAP and MS Office.
• Project management and people‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Technical operating principles of Binders, Fawema, Itelpack, FFS.
• Palletiser and Robot Palletiser operation.
• Conveying systems such as screw, chain conveyors, elevators, slides, and dust collection systems.
• Proficiency with SAP.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
