Production Manager – Furniture Manufacturing

About the role

The Production Manager will lead the furniture manufacturing floor, ensuring that production targets are achieved on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role combines hands‑on shop‑floor leadership with the design and implementation of systematic workflow processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a visible presence on the factory floor to direct, guide and motivate artisans, carpenters, upholsterers and labourers.
• Identify skill gaps and deliver hands‑on training or mentorship to raise craftsmanship and multi‑skill capabilities.
• Set daily and weekly output targets, monitor performance and enforce accountability.
• Resolve shop‑floor grievances, apply disciplinary procedures and manage shift scheduling to optimise labour costs.
• Design, document and enforce Standard Operating Procedures for each production stage, from raw timber selection to finishing and packing.
• Implement a robust job‑card tracking system to capture client specifications and modifications.
• Conduct workflow bottleneck audits, optimise floor layout and eliminate unnecessary material handling.
• Plan and schedule production runs, manage bottlenecks, and allocate resources to meet delivery deadlines.
• Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure finished furniture meets required standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing production in furniture or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with the ability to train and develop a diverse workforce.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Capability to design and enforce structured workflow systems and SOPs.
• Ability to handle labour relations, disciplinary actions and shift planning in line with company policies.
