Product Design Lead

About the role

Fuel50, a global leader in workforce transformation solutions, is seeking a Product Design Lead for its fully remote team. The company uses AI-driven technology to help businesses understand their workforce's capabilities, develop skills and enable internal mobility. This is a player-coach position: you will nurture and develop the product design team through guidance and mentorship while staying hands-on, shaping the product roadmap and prototyping. The goal is high-quality user experiences across the product suite.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and coach a team of product designers, supporting their individual development and career aspirations.
• Establish and articulate a product design vision for skills intelligence, talent mobility and AI-powered experiences.
• Drive design direction and prototype new concepts so they are tangible and testable.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams from discovery through delivery.
• Champion human-centred design of AI-driven experiences.
• Build and ship functional prototypes or even code, enhancing design engineering capabilities.
• Improve and maintain the design system, keeping it robust, scalable and accessible (WCAG).
• Shape the future design team structure and contribute to hiring as the organisation grows.

Required profile

• Minimum of seven years of product design experience in a SaaS or technology environment.
• At least two years of experience leading, managing or coaching design teams.
• Proven craft across discovery, interaction and visual design, including complex systems for multiple user personas.
• Strategic thinking combined with a pragmatic approach to delivery.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders across the business.

Required skills

• Prototyping with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding and design tools.
• Solid understanding of accessibility principles and WCAG compliance.
