Procurement Manager – Livestock

About the role

The Procurement Manager – Livestock will lead the strategic sourcing and daily procurement of slaughter‑ready lamb and beef, weaner lamb and beef, and informal market supplies for our clients in the red‑meat value chain. You will act as the main liaison between farmers, abattoirs, feed manufacturers and animal‑health suppliers to ensure a reliable and profitable supply of livestock.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies, set goals for field personnel and monitor performance.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the red‑meat value chain, expanding the producer network.
• Lead farmer development programmes, calendar supply programmes and weaner lamb sourcing initiatives.
• Coordinate weekly slaughter and procurement schedules for abattoirs, including protocol and informal market sourcing.
• Manage livestock purchase pricing to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with livestock procurement protocols and industry standards.

Required profile

• Matric certificate; BSc Agriculture preferred, diploma or degree in Farming/Agriculture acceptable.
• 5‑10 years of experience in agricultural management, meat industry operations and procurement.
• Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence.
• Afrikaans as a home language preferred for farmer communication.
• Proficient in MS Excel.
