Procurement & Inventory Manager

About the role

A construction industry supplier is looking for a Procurement & Inventory Manager to lead national purchasing and stock optimisation strategies. The role drives supply chain efficiency and inventory control to support business growth, balancing working capital reduction with material availability across nationwide branch networks. It reports directly to the Executive Team with matrix leadership over branch stock controllers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing frameworks for core industrial and raw material portfolios to secure best value
• Consolidate buying power across national production facilities and branch networks
• Turn ad-hoc local branch purchases into structured, pre-negotiated national contracts
• Build predictive demand forecasting models tracking seasonal trends and market dynamics
• Audit stock rotation to reduce slow-moving inventory and free up working capital
• Set minimum and maximum stock thresholds per branch by facility size and local demand
• Manage import risks, including global price indexes, currency fluctuations and import tariffs
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and customs agents to streamline border clearances
• Draft and enforce National Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with core vendors
• Audit suppliers on on-time delivery, quality and price consistency
• Mentor and lead branch Stock Controllers nationwide
• Oversee an internal stock transfer system to balance surplus inventory across branches

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Commerce or a highly analytical/quantitative field
• 5 to 8+ years of group-level procurement or demand planning experience
• Desirable: industrial environment experience (steel, building materials, construction, wholesale distribution) and high-volume inventory background
