Process Operator Grade 2 – Production Operations

About the role

The Process Operator Grade 2 will set up and operate production machinery at our Secunda plant, ensuring the efficient running of the production environment and providing first‑line maintenance support when required.

Key responsibilities

• Clean machines, benches, floors and personal protective equipment according to routine schedules.
• Pack and store materials, raw chemicals, hazardous substances and gas cylinders safely.
• Load and off‑load vehicles, including tankers and bulk trucks.
• Maintain general neatness of the assigned area and perform planned painting tasks.
• Participate in Sasol Nitro employee induction and emergency preparedness exercises.
• Carry out ad‑hoc tasks requested by senior personnel and work overtime as needed.
• Use hand tools and equipment safely and correctly.
• Handle process chemicals and explosives safely, including preparation and handling of gassing solutions.
• Assist with breakdowns and on‑site maintenance of machinery.
• Determine gassing properties and support health, safety and environmental systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of safety equipment and ensure maintenance where required.
• Work at heights when permitted and perform blasting tasks where applicable.
• Carry out OUPA system and BBS observations as required.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate or N3 qualification.
• 1–2+ years of relevant experience in an industrial or production environment.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate, manage risk and follow production procedures.
