Pre-Op Recovery RN - PRN

About the role

The Pre‑Op Recovery Registered Nurse provides peri‑operative care for patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center. Working under the PACU Manager or Director of Nursing, the RN ensures safe patient transitions from pre‑operative assessment through post‑anesthesia recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑operative interviews, obtain informed consent, and review diagnostic results.
• Prepare patient care areas based on daily schedules and procedure types.
• Deliver direct patient care in pre‑operative and post‑operative settings, following physician orders and facility policies.
• Complete post‑anesthesia records, verify discharge criteria, and provide post‑operative instructions.
• Supervise ancillary staff, delegate tasks, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in service recovery, communicate status changes to physicians, families, and staff.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved nursing program with current state licensure.
• Minimum two years of experience in ICU, Emergency Room, Recovery Room, or other critical‑care environment.
• Knowledge of state, federal, and accrediting body regulations.
• Ability to obtain CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
