Pre-Admissions Clinical Assessor

About the role

The Pre-Admissions Clinical Assessor will be based at Life Fourways Hospital and report to the Patient Services Manager. This role is responsible for managing clinical and financial risks associated with future patient admissions, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with hospital protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clinical assessments, document patient history and ensure accurate clinical coding.
• Coordinate pre‑admission processes with Case Management and National Credit Risk Departments to minimise risk exposure.
• Supervise and train staff in the Pre‑Admission Clinic to maintain high documentation standards.
• Manage bed and theatre bookings through close liaison with wards and doctors.
• Handle authorisation requests, benefit confirmations and insurance verification.
• Monitor workflow, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards, conduct quality walk‑abouts and drive improvement programmes.
• Address internal and external stakeholder complaints and uphold customer service standards.

Required profile

• Strong focus on customer service and ability to maintain high standards of documentation.
• Sound knowledge of fund rules, limits and authorisation processes.
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality standards and corrective action implementation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
