Post Investment Associate

About the role

The Post Investment Associate works in the Post Investments department in Johannesburg, reporting to the Post Investment Manager. The role monitors the investment portfolio, portfolio recoveries and restructuring, and supports effective portfolio risk management. It is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a deadline of 5 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct post-investment due diligence and ongoing monitoring of investments in the allocated portfolio
• Review applications from investees for further funding and obtain committee approval according to the delegation of authority
• Carry out periodic site visits to investee companies
• Oversee investee legal compliance and handle investee valuations and impairment calculations
• Produce quarterly risk analyses and reports on investee companies (internal and external)
• Liaise with internal and external audit departments
• Manage the mentor panel of consultants per investment
• Monitor and report on Empowerment Dividend data
• Flag potential non-compliance and defaulting clients early
• Attend investee boards and internal departmental committee meetings as required

Required profile

• Graduate degree (minimum B.Com in Business and Finance, Accounting) or Honours degree (B.Com in Finance, Accounting or CTA)
• At least 5 years of deal-making and investment experience
• Strong project management and corporate finance and/or venture capital experience (minimum 5 years)
• Completed articles or strong audit experience
• Proven track record managing a diverse investment portfolio from a post-investment perspective
• Experience across various industry sectors and in portfolio risk analysis

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of commercial statutes and regulations (Taxation, Companies Act, Commercial Law, Litigation and Insolvency Law)
• In-depth financial modelling and ability to analyse financial statements
• Enterprise valuation and exit valuation experience
• Advanced MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong report writing and negotiation skills
