Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant (Carlswald)

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacy is looking for a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for its Carlswald store. Working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will support dispensing, stock control and provide excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in dispensing Schedule 1‑5 medicines, including reading prescriptions, compounding, labeling and supplying medication.
• Manage stock control, re‑packaging, FIFO receipt of dispensary stock and conduct scheduled stock takes.
• Capture and verify patient details, process medical aid claims and handle chronic, HIV/AIDS and oncology authorizations.
• Provide customers with instructions on medication use, promote health information and handle self‑medication counter queries.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Mathematics (HG) and Life Science or Physical Science (minimum 50%).
• Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification and registration with the Pharmacy Council.
• Physically fit for long periods of standing, valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• South African citizenship or valid work permit and clear credit/criminal record.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Unisolv and E‑Scripting systems.
• Strong computer and numerical skills for prescription processing and stock management.
