Porter Supervisor

About the role

A vacancy exists for a Porter Supervisor at Life Flora Hospital in Johannesburg, reporting to Adele Petersen, Services Manager. The successful candidate joins a professional team committed to the highest standards of quality in healthcare.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure effective call distribution to repartees and management for the collection and return of ward patients.
• Manage staff scheduling and timekeeping on Kronos, hold monthly staff meetings, organise mandatory training and keep records.
• Assist patients to doctors' rooms and collect and return all ward patients scheduled for procedures.
• Check oxygen cylinders daily in the units and manage and record wheelchair and evacuation chair checks for patient and staff safety.
• Follow health and safety policies such as the shoe policy, bare-below-elbow policy and hand hygiene policy, and handle ad hoc requests when required.

Required profile

• Matric or equivalent.
• Physically fit and able to work under pressure and work overtime when required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Timekeeping on Kronos.
