Platform Architect – 6‑Month Contract (R850/hr)

About the role

Our client, a digital services company specializing in software development, application support, data analytics and engineering, is seeking a Platform Architect for a six‑month contract. You will work closely with product owners, developers and stakeholders to define, analyse and document features that deliver measurable business value.

Key responsibilities

• Define, design and maintain the solution architecture of a technology platform that hosts both custom‑developed and commercial off‑the‑shelf solutions.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks and tools to support the platform.
• Ensure architectural consistency, scalability, security, high availability and observability across all deployed solutions.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, developers and vendors to capture requirements and translate them into architectural designs.
• Define integration patterns and data flows between built and bought solutions.
• Establish best practices for software development, deployment and maintenance.
• Oversee implementation of security, compliance and data‑privacy requirements.
• Review and approve technical designs to ensure alignment with the solution architecture.
• Continuously assess emerging technologies and recommend platform evolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on software architecture and design experience, covering both custom and commercial solutions.
• Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS or Azure.
• Proven experience designing platforms that host multiple applications and services.
• Strong understanding of security principles, data privacy and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
