Phlebotomist

About the role

Mediclinic Kloof in Pretoria is recruiting four phlebotomists for an on-site, permanent position. The main purpose of the job is to draw blood and other specimens from patients for testing, in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex blood and specimen collection procedures safely, in line with professional standards and regulations
• Give pre- and post-test counselling to patients and family members, explaining the procedure and answering questions
• Identify, prevent and report risks, follow health and safety protocols and keep the work area sterile
• Record and process patient and clinical information accurately, and record and charge all stock used
• Work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team in the EC Unit

Required profile

• Registered nurse or enrolled nurse, or a certificate in phlebotomy techniques
• At least 1 to 2 years of experience after the nursing or phlebotomy qualification
• Preference given according to the Employment Equity Plan, as well as to internal applicants who meet the minimum requirements
