Pharmacist – Retail Pharmacy (Sandton)

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified pharmacist to work in its Bryanpark store in Sandton. The role involves dispensing medications, providing pharmaceutical expertise to patients and healthcare professionals, and ensuring safe and effective use of prescription medicines in a retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense medication accurately, interpret scripts, capture patient details, and provide clear usage instructions while complying with SAPC regulations.
• Deliver customer service at the dispensary, self‑medication counter and front‑shop, including advising on medical‑aid costs and following up on script tracking.
• Process paperwork for medical‑aid claims, correct rejected scripts, authorize chronic, HIV/AIDS and oncology medications, and maintain customer profiles.
• Monitor stock levels, report shortages, facilitate bi‑annual stock takes and exercise cash and asset control.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric with a BPharm or equivalent qualification and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• 2–3 years of retail pharmacy experience and proficiency with MS Office.
• Comprehensive medicine knowledge, strong communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Willingness to work retail hours and meet health‑ and safety requirements.
