Pharmacist – Retail Pharmacy (East Rand Mall)

About the role

Dis‑Chem East Rand Mall is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to dispense medications, provide pharmaceutical expertise and ensure safe, effective use of prescriptions in a busy retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense medication under supervision, accurately interpret scripts, verify patient details and provide usage instructions.
• Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self‑medication counter and front‑shop, including explaining medical aid costs.
• Process paperwork for medical aid claims, correct rejected scripts, authorize chronic, HIV/AIDS and oncology medication, and maintain customer profiles.
• Monitor stock levels, report shortages, facilitate bi‑annual stock takes and manage cash and asset control.

Required profile

• Comprehensive medicine knowledge including dosing, interactions and counselling.
• Understanding of retail pharmacy operations and ability to think critically.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a second language.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council and willing to work retail hours.
• Physically fit to stand for long periods, hold a valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using SAP.
• E‑scripting capability.
• Familiarity with Unisolv pharmacy software.
