Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic Qualified) – Sandton City

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a Post‑Basic Qualified (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistant for its Sandton City store. The role involves dispensing medications, providing pharmaceutical advice to patients and healthcare professionals, and ensuring safe and effective use of prescription medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense and label medicines under direct supervision of a pharmacist, verify prescriptions and provide usage instructions.
• Assist customers at the dispensary, self‑medication counter and front‑shop, including medical‑aid cost explanations.
• Process paperwork for medical‑scheme claims, correct rejected scripts and maintain accurate customer profiles.
• Control stock of Schedule 1‑5 medicines, report low levels, and participate in bi‑annual stock takes.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to Dis‑Chem policies, health‑and‑safety rules and uniform standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Post‑Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Willingness to work retail hours.
• Additional language knowledge and familiarity with retail/FMCG operations are advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Unisolv SAP.
• Experience using E‑Scripting.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and basic numerical skills.
