Pharmacist Assistant

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a motivated Pharmacist Assistant to support its hospital pharmacy operations. You will play a key role in ensuring patients and the public receive safe, accurate, and timely medication services while maintaining efficient stock management.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances for stores and the public.
• Accurately dispense prescribed medications.
• Maintain efficient stock holding and distribution of medicines and scheduled substances.

Required profile

• Essential education: Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic Certificate.
• No prior experience required; 1‑3 years private hospital pharmacy experience is desirable.
• Experience in clinical pharmacy, antimicrobial stewardship, and stock management is a plus.

Required skills

• Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship knowledge.
• Computer literate – proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with pharmacy legislation (e.g., Medicines and Related Substances Control Act).
• Understanding of ethical product knowledge, financial management, and medical aid scheme regulations.
• Experience with pharmacy systems such as UNISOLVE and AS400.
