Performance Analyst

About the role

Our client, a global asset manager, is looking for a Performance Analyst to join the investment performance and analytics team in Cape Town. The role involves calculating, reporting and analysing investment performance for portfolio managers, front‑office staff and senior executives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform performance measurement, attribution (equity, multi‑asset class and fixed income) and related analytics.
• Explain performance calculation methodologies and results to internal and external stakeholders.
• Create new performance reports and analyses tailored to client mandates.
• Implement and model performance‑based fee calculations, ensuring alignment with client benchmarks.
• Maintain GIPS compliance and stay updated on standards changes.
• Complete industry survey submissions and document processes regularly.
• Utilise performance and risk software platforms such as Statpro Revolution and, where applicable, Morningstar.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
• CFA charterholder or candidate (CIPM advantageous).
• 3–5 years of experience as a Performance Analyst.
• Highly organised, resilient under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines.
• Proactive in improving processes and comfortable working independently and across functions.

Required skills

• Performance‑based fee calculation and quantitative modelling.
• GIPS standards knowledge.
• Statpro Revolution (or similar performance attribution systems).
• Morningstar platform experience.
