People Operations Coordinator – HR & Payroll Support

About the role

SLR is seeking a People Operations Coordinator to provide responsive HR and payroll support to colleagues across the Middle East and Africa region. Based in Johannesburg with a hybrid working model, the role combines payroll administration, employee lifecycle management and general People Team support.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll data accurately and on time, including new starters, leavers, changes and benefits, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company policies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date employee records throughout the full lifecycle and manage onboarding and off‑boarding processes, including contract administration.
• Update and maintain the HRIS, process HR change requests and support the administration of company benefits.
• Monitor the People Team mailbox, handle high volumes of queries, maintain internal databases and coordinate system access with IT.
• Investigate and resolve payroll and HR queries promptly, escalating when necessary.
• Identify and suggest process improvements, manage workload quality and contribute to a safe, tidy working environment.

• Excellent communication skills, especially when dealing with sensitive matters.

Required skills

• Experience with an HRIS (Human Resources Information System) for data entry and reporting.
