People & Culture Specialist

About the role

The People & Culture Specialist will lead end‑to‑end talent acquisition and manage the full onboarding experience for new hires at Emeris' Newlands Campus. This role ensures recruitment processes are compliant, efficient, and aligned with the campus culture while delivering a seamless induction for employees.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete recruitment cycle, from job description alignment to candidate care and contract preparation.
• Partner with hiring managers to create accurate job ads, conduct competency‑based interviews, and maintain recruitment trackers.
• Source talent through job boards, social media, professional networks and build pipelines for critical roles.
• Ensure PoPIA compliance by securely storing all recruitment documentation in ATS/HR systems.
• Oversee onboarding logistics: load new hires onto the HR Engagement App, coordinate payroll documentation, set up IT equipment, and send welcome communications.
• Upload and organise employee documentation in SharePoint within the first month of employment.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive induction packs, including welcome letters, policy acknowledgements, and branded gifts.
• Mentor the campus People & Culture Consultant on recruitment processes and contribute to employer‑branding initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in end‑to‑end recruitment and talent acquisition.
• Strong knowledge of South African data‑protection regulations (PoPIA) and HR compliance.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple onboarding activities simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills for candidate care and stakeholder collaboration.

Required skills

• Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and HR information systems.
• Proficiency in SharePoint for document management.
• Familiarity with video interview platforms and psychometric testing tools.
• Use of HR Engagement/App platforms for onboarding workflows.
