People and Culture Assistant

About the role

La Verna Private Hospital, part of Lenmed, is looking for a People and Culture Assistant to carry out a full generalist people and culture function. The role covers labour relations, recruitment and selection, training and development, counselling, payroll input submission and supervision of administration processes. It involves meeting tight deadlines, following policies and procedures and interacting with staff, management, external agencies and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Recruitment and selection, onboarding and orientation
• Collating and submitting payroll inputs
• Industrial relations and people and culture audit and reporting
• Managing employee files and other P&C administration
• Facilitating the employee wellness programme
• Assisting employees with performance management contracts and reviews
• Handling employee queries promptly and effectively
• Delivering employee engagement projects and other P&C duties

Required profile

• Matric (essential)
• 3-year Human Resources diploma (essential)
• At least 1 year of P&C admin experience in a hospital environment
• Payroll coordination experience (essential)
• Good working knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act
• Attention to detail (essential)
