Payroll Manager – Sandton

About the role

Ad Talent is seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager to lead its payroll function in Sandton. You will ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processing while fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the payroll team, providing guidance, training and performance oversight.
• Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing, guaranteeing accuracy and statutory compliance.
• Review payroll inputs, reconciliations, variance reports and salary payments.
• Oversee month‑end payroll processes, reporting and banking activities.
• Ensure compliance with EMP201, IRP5, UIF and other legislative submissions.
• Prepare payroll reports, bonus and salary increase schedules, and related documentation.
• Liaise with Finance on reconciliations, general ledger updates and payroll funding.
• Resolve payroll queries and drive continuous process improvements.
• Support annual payroll activities, including tax updates, medical aid changes and year‑end reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing end‑to‑end payroll in a medium to large organisation.
• Previous experience leading or supervising a payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation, tax and statutory requirements.
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, salary payments and month‑end processes.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with payroll systems.
