Payroll Administrator

About the role

RiseUp Management is looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to lead the end‑to‑end payroll function for its Johannesburg office. The role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while supporting employee benefits and HR payroll activities.

Key responsibilities

• Process all payroll transactions, including hires, transfers, promotions, overtime, leave, deductions and terminations.
• Manage monthly payroll and weekly payments using Sage 300 People and Sage 800 People.
• Maintain salary schedules, learner payroll, and payroll system configurations.
• Print and distribute payslips and issue employment confirmation letters.
• Update medical aid rates, allowances and other payroll data in the system.
• Coordinate onboarding, payroll activation and employee documentation.
• Provide training and support for Sage 300 People ESS functionality.
• Handle banking detail changes, account verifications and electronic banking uploads.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with a certification or National Diploma in Payroll Administration.
• At least 6 years of end‑to‑end payroll management experience.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with Sage 300 People, Sage ESS and Sage 800 People.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation, SARS requirements and EMP501 (IRP5) reconciliations.
• Experience with payroll audits, GL integrations and financial reconciliations.
