Payroll Accountant

About the role

The Payroll Accountant will ensure payroll processes comply with all legal and regulatory requirements while supporting accurate financial reporting. You will work closely with shared services and business teams to maintain robust controls and deliver high‑quality payroll data.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining payroll controls, procedures and policies.
• Monitor compliance with accounting policies, payroll legislation, internal controls and company policies.
• Support internal and external audits and resolve any findings.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance in payroll‑related financial areas.
• Review and approve payroll payments and ensure quality‑assured journals, payments and reconciliations.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to POPIA requirements.
• Extract, balance and post payroll journals in SAP for MultiChoice entities.
• Calculate and process leave and bonus provisions, cash‑book postings and reallocation journals.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of payroll compliance and accounting principles.
• Experience working with internal controls and audit processes.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and maintain high confidentiality.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
