Patisserie Lecturer

About the role

The International Hotel School Cape Town Campus is seeking a passionate Patisserie Lecturer to inspire and guide aspiring culinary professionals. You will deliver both theoretical and practical pastry training, helping students achieve high academic standards and develop industry‑ready skills.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct theory lectures and hands‑on kitchen pastry sessions.
• Maintain a minimum 85% pass rate and 90% throughput rate.
• Track student progress, provide counselling and support.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
• Apply assessment principles in line with the assessor code of conduct.
• Engage in industry research and allocate industry time.
• Organise open‑day sweet snack events, competitions and pastry‑based excursions.

Required profile

• Minimum NQF 5 qualification in hospitality.
• City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation, Cooking & Patisserie.
• CATHSSETA Unit 73292 qualification.
• Assessors and Moderators certificate and outcome‑based assessment certification.
• At least 5 years of professional pastry experience.
• Minimum 2 years of lecturing, teaching or assessor experience.
• Previous managerial experience in a culinary setting.
