Patient Services Clerk (2 positions)

About the role

The hospital is seeking two Patient Services Clerks to manage front‑desk operations, support patient registration and handle financial transactions. The role involves interacting with patients, medical staff and insurance providers in a fast‑paced environment. Clerks will also process cash receipts and ensure accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls and schedule patient appointments.
• Register patients, enter charges and obtain authorization numbers.
• Manage work queues and post payments.
• Perform batch balancing, reconcile and balance cash.
• Confirm co‑payment with medical aids and liaise with relevant parties when admitting private patients.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification (tertiary qualification advantageous).
• Previous reception experience essential; experience in private healthcare or healthcare funding industry advantageous.
• Knowledge of medical aid admitting protocol and doctors’ practices is advantageous.
• Ability to work 12‑hour shifts (day and night) and function independently.
• Fluent English communication and strong interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with SAP (advantageous).
