Overhead Power Line Design Engineer

About the role

Zutari is seeking experienced overhead power line engineers to design and implement transmission and distribution projects across Africa. The role involves detailed engineering of lines ranging from 11 kV to over 400 kV, supporting both utility and renewable energy initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed overhead line designs, including profiling, pole/monopole, and lattice tower specifications using PLS‑CADD.
• Compile bills of materials, engineering calculations, sag & tension charts, and staking tables.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for client review.
• Collaborate with local and cross‑border clients to ensure design compliance with standards.

Required profile

• B.Eng, B.Sc or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (South Africa).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in transmission and distribution projects, preferably in utility or renewable energy sectors.
• Professional registration or in the process of applying.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD for line profiling, pole and tower design.
• Basic AutoCAD or MicroStation drafting skills.
• Advanced Excel and Word for data extraction, calculations and reporting.
• Familiarity with MS Project for schedule management (beneficial).
